High Summer Shirting: A Day in Amsterdam with Clayton Chambers

A couple of weeks back we visited Amsterdam to put our High Summer Shirting Drop to good use, spending the day with our friend, Clayton Chambers of Sprezza. The premise behind our shirting is a simple one. It's designed to flow through the day rather than be reserved for a single part of it, we wanted to live in that idea for a few hours, experiencing what the shirts are made to do.

Clayton has been a long supporter of the brand, often spotted wearing our Music and Arts Cap and the odd patchwork shirt, and despite most of his creative output being consumed digitally, he’s also big on going out there in the real world, connecting with people, culture and getting involved in just about anything tangible that he resonates with. It’s most likely why we get along so well, along with his openness and welcoming nature.

With the above in mind, we started the day at Clayton's studio, greeted with hot coffee and a generous choice of baked goods. His studio is the kind of space that makes you want to slow down and tune in to your surroundings. Incense on, sound system fired up and the morning sun glistening against the plywood flooring, the conversation drifted between fabric, moving to a new country and an insight into the shape of things to come.

With the morning behind us, we picked up bikes and ran a few errands around the city, weaving through canals and side streets with no particular urgency behind any of it. This is where the shirting earns its keep. Lightweight enough to move freely in, breathable enough to forget you're wearing it and cut with just enough room to layer over a tee if the morning starts cooler than it ends.

An ‘accidental’ turn led us to Clayton’s favourite coffee spot, a modern and bustling neighbourhood café that had all the charm you could ever wish for from your go-to. Despite our already heavily caffeinated eyes, it felt a necessary stop the moment we sat down, taking in familiar street names, the cyclists passing us by and the friendly faces greeting us.

By early afternoon we'd made our way to Vondelpark, found a patch of grass in the sun and settled in for a hot dog and an ice cream - with no particular order in which they were consumed. The park quickly makes you forget you’re in a major city, offering a quiet slice of greenery that calms you and helps recharge from the hustle and bustle, a place Clayton often visits with his family or even alone for some downtime between his busy travel schedule.
