SS25 Shirting
Café Mountain returns for Spring/Summer 2025 with a compact range of high-quality shirting — timeless, built-to-last layers made from proper natural fibres and stitched up with a good bit of thought behind them. Designed for days when you’re either scalding your legs on a park bench, ‘99 in hand, or unfurling a badly wrapped sandwich near Striding Edge (and disposing of it responsibly, obviously).
For our SS25 shirting drop, we headed a couple of miles down the road to visit photographer and long-time friend of the brand, Will Creswick. His garden — a slice of sun-drenched calm — set the tone nicely, with Will stepping out from behind the lens, watering can in hand, to model the new collection in and out of the dappled light.
We managed to resist the pull of the real star of the shoot, Luna, Will’s new four-legged friend, just long enough to capture him in some proper looks: classic checks, crisp stripes and luxurious cottons, all built for long afternoons and easy movement.
PATCHWORK, TWO WAYS
There’s the Patchwork Stripe Shirt in Sky Blue Seersucker — part Ivy League yacht club, part £8 pint of stout, made from midweight cotton with a subtle mix of stripe patterns. Easy to throw on, hard to mess up.
Then the Patchwork Check Shirt in Crazy Madras. This one’s louder — a stitched-together celebration of classic checks cut from artisan-woven gauze. Basically, if your shirt’s going to do the talking, this one’s fluent in six languages and just back from the Andes.
STRIPES THAT PULL THEIR WEIGHT
The Dotted Stripe Shirt comes in Chalk (clean and neutral) and Midnight (deep and moody). Both are cut from soft Japanese brushed cotton with a slightly boxy fit — designed to feel relaxed but still like you made an effort. Great solo, great layered and great with last night’s jeans and this morning’s regrets.
IT’S A HYBRID THING
The Easy Check Shirt Jackets — in Deep Navy and Ochre — are technically shirts but wear more like a trusty overlayer. Think: too warm for a coat, too breezy for just a tee. Made from lightweight Japanese brushed cotton with roomy hip pockets for stashing keys, receipts or a couple of flapjacks to keep you fuelled.
